10-Year Review


Overview


Under the Alberta Land Stewardship Act, approved regional plans must be reviewed every 10 years to ensure they remain relevant and effective in supporting Alberta's long-term vision and economic, environmental, and social outcomes for the region.

 

The 10-Year Review of the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan commenced on August 22, 2024. See the announcement here.


The South Saskatchewan Regional Plan remains in effect, continues to be implemented and provides strategic direction for the region.

Engagement:​


As part of this review process, feedback from Albertans, Indigenous communities and key stakeholders will help the Government of Alberta assess the ongoing relevancy and effectiveness of the existing plan in supporting the long-term vision for economic, social and environmental needs in the region.


Public engagement started in the fall of 2024, commencing with the launch of a survey hosted on the Government of Alberta Public Engagement site. The online survey for the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan 10-Year Review is now closed.


Staff from the Land Use Secretariat and government ministries will continue to meet with Indigenous communities and organizations, municipalities and targeted stakeholders to receive feedback on the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan 10-Year Review and priorities emerging in the region.

​Outcomes


The 10-Year Review will result in a report from the Land Use Secretariat to the Stewardship Minister on the ongoing relevancy and effectiveness of the regional plan.
