10 Year Review

Overview

Under the Alberta Land Stewardship Act, approved regional plans must be reviewed every 10-years to ensure they remain relevant and effective in supporting Alberta's long-term vision and economic, environmental, and social outcomes for the region.

The 10-year review of the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan commenced on August 22, 2024. See the announcement here.

Engagement:

As part of this review process, feedback from Albertans, Indigenous communities and key stakeholders will help the Government of Alberta assess the ongoing relevancy and effectiveness of the existing plan in supporting the long-term vision for economic, social and environmental needs in the region.

Beginning this September, you'll be able share your perspectives on the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan by completing an online survey which can be found on the Alberta Public Engagement website.

Staff from the Land Use Secretariat and government ministries will meet with Indigenous communities and organizations, municipalities and targeted stakeholders to receive feedback on the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan review and priorities emerging in the region.

Additional background information is available, including:

Outcomes

The 10-year review will result in a report from the Land Use Secretariat to the Stewardship Minister on the ongoing relevancy and effectiveness of the regional plan.
